Day of the Deployed

Day of the Deployed is a national holiday to honor the valiant men and women who have been deployed. These individuals have made exceptional sacrifices for our country and are committed to protecting our freedoms to the highest degree. The Day of the Deployed is observed on October 26.

In short, here are a few simple ways you can give thanks and show your support for our troops:

Create a Care Package

There are several organizations that work to supply our soldiers with care packages.  Therefore, you can reach out to local chapters for donation inquiries and supply necessities.

Explore Support Options Through Soldiers’ Angels

Soldiers’ Angels has six teams who offer varying support to deployed service members. Some options include making baked goods, sending a card, or writing a letter.

Make a Donation

Find a charity you love that supports military personnel, families, or veterans and make a donation! Meanwhile, this is a quick and efficient way to show your support for the military community.

Do your research. Make sure your money is going to a qualified, reliable charity.

Volunteer

Spend some time directly working with an organization that serves the military community. Options include the USO, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Wounded Warrior Project.

On the Day of the Deployed, we also recognize family members of those on deployment. Having a loved one overseas can take an emotional and physical toll.

Assist With Childcare

When a spouse is deployed, the remaining parent is juggling two-times the work. In short, offering to babysit or assist with transportation can have a profound impact.

Prepare a Meal

You can never go wrong with food! For example, providing a meal is a great way to show your gratitude while also actively helping the family.

Communicate

Sometimes all people need is a shoulder to lean on or a listening ear. This is particularly true for military families who are constantly relocating, are dealing with the deployment of a loved one, or are facing everyday challenges. Meanwhile, a simple call or text is a great way to show someone that you’re there for them.
