Stimulus Checks, Social Security & Tax Returns

On Wednesday the 25th, a new “relief package” bill would help provide a direct payment to American citizens. The payment comes in 3 variations which were $2,400 for couples who are married, $1,200 for an adult and $500 for an eligible child. For those who were not filing their tax returns, the answer on what they will be required to do or be receiving is still not fully explained or listed.

One of the more important topics among this matter was for people who are receiving social security and if they are still eligible. Good news, yes they are. Those who are recipients of social security can still receive this stimulus check.

That said, any of those people that are receiving social security, supplemental security income or social security disability are going to receive stimulus checks. If you did not file for tax returns in the years 2018 and 2019, they will still be able to estimate your stimulus payments. If you are to not receive a stimulus check in 2020 you will be able to use it as a “tax reduction” when you go to file for tax returns. Overall, the payment you receive is basically a “payment of tax credit” and it will not need to be paid back.
