The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) offers monthly benefits to veterans who sustained an injury or illness during active military service. Included in this are pre-existing disabilities that were made worse due to service. The onset of disabilities after active duty can also qualify a veteran for VA Disability if it is found to be “related to circumstances of military service”, according to the VA.

To be eligible for VA Compensation, a veteran must have a condition that fits any of the above categories for disability. Additionally, the veteran must have received an honorable discharge.
