The probability of winning an appeal depends on your medical condition – Here are the averages…..

Reconsideration

Most states have a review of the initial decision prior to an appeal hearing; that first paper that is reviewed is called a reconsideration. The review is typically performed at your state’s Disability Determination Services (DDS) bureau, not at the Social Security office.

The approval chances on reconsideration are about 13%. This means that only in 13% of the cases that were originally denied, DDS reversed the denial into an approved claim. The rest were denied when reviewed for the second time

There’s not much you can do to improve your chances of winning a reconsideration, except to go to the doctor and make sure that DDS has your most recent medical records on file.
