The House Ways and Means Social Security Subcommittee will be holding a hearing titled, “Ensuring Social Security Serves America’s Veterans”. The hearing will be held on Wednesday, February 7, at 9am in the Rayburn House Office Building room 2253 (Washington, D.C.).
Chairman of the Subcommittee, Sam Johnson, announced that the initiatives put in place by the Social Security Administration (SSA) will come under scrutiny at the hands of the subcommittee members. They will examine what steps can be taken to simplify the application process, to reduce processing times, and to assist Veterans looking to reenter the workforce. Although the SSA currently partners with the Department of Veterans Affairs and the Department of Defense to make the programs more effective, there is always room for improvement. The ultimate goal of this hearing is figure out a way to streamline the program, so it can better serve those who have served our country.
