06 May Lyft Pledges $1.5M to Provide Free Rides to Veterans and Low Income Individuals
It was during Hurricane Harvey that Lyft launched “Relief Rides”. This program was set in place to provide those affected by the hurricane with transportation to/from shelters by willing Lyft drivers. These services were also used to help evacuate people as quickly as possible following the mass shooting in Las Vegas, as well as during the California wildfires. Now, the company is taking things one step further.
Lyft is expanding their “Relief Rides” program to include non-emergency situations. Specifically, they will be providing free rides to job interviews, medical appointments, and more for returning veterans and low-income individuals. This is currently a $1.5 million mission.
